Yoonjae Hwang explores how capitalism and the financial system politically constructs the world. While maintaining a critical stance toward capital-C Capitalism, he traces the entanglements among political, ecological, economic crises, arguing that the crises share capitalism as its common ground. His work tries to demonstrate that pre-configured solutions—such as sustainability narratives—cannot serve as genuine alternatives. Engaging with the plurality of value systems and the possibilities of alternative economies, he rather believes that (im)possible alternatives must be conceived through genealogical analysis of capitalism and neoliberal governmentality, locating points of rupture within their immanent contradictions.
